Spartan Fitness Burger

There you have it. The official Spartan Fitness Burger ™.

So here’s the back story of how this tasty monstrosity came to be.

Friday Afternoon. Cookout with roomies and friends at the house.

We’re grilling bratwurts and hamburgers. Now you and I both know hamburger buns are out in the Spartan Fitness Body System (fancy name).

So I tried something new. Ran to the fridge and grabbed two sturdy leafs of romaine lettuce. Wrapped the meat, tomatoes, onions, and mustard with the lettuce and WHALA!

It was surprisingly good. More Spartan Fitness recipes to come.

8 weeks and sharp knives

it’s been over a month since the spartan fitness challenge. Here’s a photo update:

IMGP7172 IMGP7178

2.3 inches off my waist!Bummer, gotta get new jeans soon.

I was just telling a friend of mine about all this and here’s what he had to say:

“that’s awesome, but now you have to maintain it”

Yea…now I gotta maintain it. But wait, that’s not what got me here in the first place.

“If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse”

Tiger Woods

It’s time to set new goals. New challenges. Improve everyday.

80% of my results came in the first 8 weeks.

Anyone can transform their body naturally in 8 weeks like I did.

Here are 3 quick tips to get you started getting your lean fat free body.

Sharpen the knife

Forget about body parts and think of your body as one piece. Think of your body as a functional weapon. Really.

Sitting around at dinner with some buddies 5 months ago I started to tell them how I wanted to be after the challenge was over. I said I wanted to be and look dangerous, like a sharp knife. Chiseled and athletic.

Now maybe you’re not crazy and weird like me and you just want to lose belly fat. This will get you looking strong and lean fast.

It’s this simple: Pick up weight from the ground and put it above your head. Rinse and repeat. Do exercises that work everything at the same time: Deadlift, squat, press, dips, pull-ups, clean and shoulder press. Train the body as one. Notice you don’t need some fancy machine or gym to do this. Train your body as one piece anywhere.

Sleep like a baby

I like staying up late like the average guy but I had to end that after I learned how important early sleep is in the fat loss muscle building game. It’s vital.

Turns out your best recovery occurs when your body releases this amazing thing called human growth hormone. it’s released during your deepest sleep cycles. Simply put, it builds muscle and reduces fat while you sleep. This is crucial to seeing fast results naturally. Get to bed bed early tonight and get your 7-8 hours.

Eat like a Champ.

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS JUNK FOOD.

There’s food and there’s junk.

Eat food not junk. Food is what is found naturally in nature. If it wasn’t killed or picked off a tree recently don’t eat it. That’s the ideal to shoot for. This eliminates stuff like sugar, bread, pasta, donuts, flour.

Extra credit if you eliminate grain, beans, and pasteurized dairy.

Do this alone and you will see BIG changes guaranteed.

One more thing. Stop drinking junk too, water’s all you need.

7 Laws of Spartan Fitness

Follow these 7 principles and you too will transform your body

1. Train the body as one

Forget bodybuilding, forget cardio. Spartans train for performance not looks. Full body functional exercises only. These are: Deadlift, squat, overhead press, row, pullup, dip, push-up, clean, snatch, and various core strength exercises using barbells, dumbells, or any odd objects.

2. Short intense training sessions

If you’re not dripping sweat and losing breath you are not training hard enough. Design workouts that make you a little nervous. Combine the exercises listed above and their variations with little rest for 30 minutes or less. Maximum effort in minimum time.

3. Eat only natural food

Meats, vegetables, nuts, healthy oils, fruit, and tubers. If it’s man made it doesn’t belong in your body. Grains, legumes, and dairy are not optimal food choices for Spartans. No sugar, minimum salt. Drink water. Alcohol in small amounts.

4. Feast at night, fast at day

Intermittent fasting. It’s how the ancient spartans and greek soldiers ate and even currently in parts of the world by neccessity. One or several big meals at the end of the day instead of 3 or even 6 meals a day. Your instinct will thank you.

5. Rest Early

Sleep is essential to proper recovery. One hour before 12 is worth 2 hrs after. Sleep early.

6. No patterns

Don’t follow a pattern. Fast randomly, Don’t do the same workouts. The spartan code is constant but life is random.

7. Show Spartan Resolve

Last but not least. Have a do or die mentality everyday. Never give up on your goal. With willpower and determination you will achieve spartan transformation.

The Spartan Fitness Challenge

I started the spartan fitness challenge on the eve of the new year, Dec 31st 2007. My sister challenged me to a bet inspired by ‘300’. If you haven’t watched it, rent it. The ‘300’ actors were trained using spartan methods for 4 months to achieve spartan transformation both in body and mind.I wanted to do the same. She didn’t think I could and that’s how the Spartan fitness Challenge began. In 4 months could I transform my body into a Spartan’s? You be the judge.results

Notable numbers of my transformation:

Waist: 31.8” to 29.5”Bodyfat%: 7.9 to 4.5 (6.5 to 4.5 mm Suprailiac measurement)Upper arm: 11.4” to 12.6”Neck: 15.6” to 16.5”bodyweight: 162 to 160 lbsblood pressure: 145/83 to 118/65I lost 2 inches on my wast, lost 6 pounds of fat, gained 4 pounds of muscle. Most importantly I gained functional strength, speed, and endurance. I tested myself weekly wrestling a friend. At beginning of the year, I could barely stand after a few minutes. 2 months in I was keep up, getting takedowns. By the end of the challenge I was kicking ass. The hardest I’ve ever wrestled before. So how did I do it?I studied the training methods of modern day spartans, their diet, and their mindset.I discovered The Spartan Code. Simple laws governing the lifestyle of Spartans. Following the Spartan Code for 4 months earned me the Spartan Transformation you see today.Up next, 7 principles of the Spartan Code you can start using today.
